Head Groundsperson
Salary: Up to £35,000
Role Overview: Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will play an essential role in maintaining first-class pitches and surrounding areas for training sessions and matchdays at our state-of-the-art Mill Farm stadium and our Women's stadium at Kellemergh Park.
What you'll be doing:
- Day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the first team pitch at Mill Farm.
- Full maintenance of the Women's and first team training pitches at Kellemergh Park.
- Ensuring all surrounding surfaces are clean, weed-free, and tidy.
- Maintaining goal posts, including netting, and reporting any issues.
- Attending all first team home matchdays and ensuring equipment is up to standard.
- Regular cutting of all fine turf areas using a range of sportsturf equipment.
- Implementing a comprehensive pitch nutritional program.
- Managing stocks of fertilizers, seeds, and other materials.
- Using and maintaining equipment such as the tractor-mounted Verti Drain and automated irrigation control system.
- Providing weekly reports to the COO & Director of Football on pitch conditions.
About you:
- At least five years of experience in the sports turf industry.
- Experience with pedestrian lawnmowers and knowledge of irrigation.
- General knowledge of fertilizers and pesticides.
- Relevant Health and Safety training certificates.
- Desirable: Level 2 NVQ in Amenity Horticulture or Sports Turf Management.
- Personal attributes: honesty, high standards of conduct, respect for colleagues, and strong attention to detail.
